We live in frightening times. We are, on a daily basis, made aware of the fact that horrendous events happen moment by moment. In those instances, we can be re-traumatized and/or challenged in ways that we try to come to grips with, and not shy away from.

These events are ugly and there might be a temptation, for some of us, to think that the mess is far too messy, and that there is nothing that we can do to make a difference.

At the heart of Unitarian Universalism is the call to fight for a just and loving world. Each of us comes from a different reality and history. It is important to recognize when we are individually and collectively strong enough to allow horror to actually strengthen our resolve so that we can heed this call. We also need to know when to allow others to join us in the struggle.

Your Southern Region Staff is grateful to each you for being our partners in this work. No one can do the work of building the just and loving world alone. We want you to know that you are not alone. Thankfully we have one another.
