Judith Frediani presents the 2013 Maclean Award to Rev. Linda Olsen Peebles.

Reverend Dr. Linda Olsen Peebles, left, accepted the 2013 Angus H. MacLean Award from retiring Curriculum Director Judith A. Frediani, at the UUA General Assembly in Louisville, KY.

The Reverend Linda Olson Peebles, Minister of Faith in Action at the Unitarian Universalist (UU) Church of Arlington (VA), received the Angus H. MacLean Award for Excellence in Religious Education at the Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly in Louisville, KY in June, 2013.

Rev. Peebles was recognized for sharing her passion for Unitarian Universalism, in MacLean's spirit of justice and love, through "outstanding leadership and service to Unitarian Universalism at congregational, district, and Associational levels." Her accomplishments include nurturing multigenerational learning, service, and leadership as Minister of Religious Education at the UU Church of Arlington (VA), promoting the Our Whole Lives lifespan sexuality education program, and giving voice to our "longing for justice and peace and love and power" as a UU musician.

Rev. Peebles' service on the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Board of Trustees and as president of the UU Ministers Association were also cited in the award, which is given by the UUA and the St. Lawrence Theological School Alumni annually. The award affirms that Rev. Peebles' "prophetic social justice call is as inseparable from her religious education ministry as her music is from her soul."
