Spiritual Preparation

Many of us have a love/hate relationship with food. We eat more than we should or we do not eat enough. We make food choices that are not healthy. We become victims of cultural messages about food. It is so easy to pass on to younger people the negative messages about food and our bodies. Food is comfort. Food is belonging. Food is what we need to survive. Food is an art form. Food is political. Surely you can think of more. For just a moment reflect on the food you have chosen to eat over the last twenty-four hours. Was it food that treated your body well? As you take your next breath, send it down to your stomach. Become aware of the place in your body where the food goes. How might you bless yourself with the next food choices you make?
