  • A bold marker

  • Place the beehive poster and the bees on a work table.

Description of Activity

Reinforce the connection between the functions of a family home and a faith home by having children revisit the bees and beehive they explored in Session 3. Gather to the group around the table where you have placed the beehive poster and bees. Review the reasons the bees returned to the hive, written on each bee during Session 3. Remind the children that the hive is the bees' family home.

Say in your own words:

Now we have spent time talking about a faith home. When we did a meditation, we thought of some of the reasons we return to our faith home, our congregation. Can you think of any of these?

As reasons are named, write the reason on the bees. There might be shared reasons (same as the reasons for returning to the family home) and new reasons (appropriate only for the faith home). Some reasons that apply to both might include to eat, to play, and to be together. New reasons might be to worship, to come to religious education, to sing, or to work together to make the world a better place.

If you have taken the beehive poster and bees down from a wall or bulletin board, replace them when you have finished. You may say:

Now the bees are going back to their family home and their faith home.
