Home schooling is gaining popularity in some Unitarian Universalist communities. It could be argued that the home school movement is a type of utopian movement. Do you agree with this? If so, why? With your congregational social justice committee or another appropriate group, examine your congregation's work on environmental issues to discern apocalyptic thought and utopian thought. What rhetoric, imagery, and approaches to action have been most effective in calling your congregation to action on environmental issues? How might you increase the effectiveness of what already is working well and change what is not? How can using a utopian or apocalyptic approach help? Volunteer to contribute your insights and action to congregational efforts to preserve and protect the environment.
