UUA Anti-Racism Milestones
At the 1997 General Assembly, delegates voted that all levels of the Association embark on the intentional path to become anti-racist and multicultural. This vote was the culmination of a five-year process, which began, with the passage of the 1992 GA resolution for racial and cultural diversity. The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has continued to seek answers to difficult questions about race, oppression, white privilege, and reconciliation and encourage our constituents to engage in this important work.
As of April 2010
- More than 210 congregations have experienced a Jubilee One workshop in the past 12 years.
- More than 5000 religious and lay leaders have participated in anti-racism events, including the Jubilee Two power analysis training.
- JUUST Change Consultants have served 35+ congregations, districts, divinity schools, and UUA staff groups, since the consultancy was introduced in July 2005.
- More than 360 congregations have participated in Beyond Categorical Thinking.
- We have 650 Welcoming Congregations.
The Office of Justice Making provided regular reports to the UUA Board of Trustees. These reports, along with the Racial Justice Statements from General Assembly, provide a recent history of the development and implementation of some of the ARAOMC projects, programs, and conferences over the last several years.
