Our congregation put up its first Black Lives Matter banner in early 2016, and it was stolen in May 2016. In August, we installed a replacement banner at a dedication ceremony led by Rev. Diana McLean and attended by congregants, interfaith partners, our local police chief, and other community members. Several members have written pieces for the local paper explaining our stance, often in response to negative letters to the editor that promoted misconceptions of what Black Lives Matter means.
