Countdown to Climate March
Countdown to Climate March

Dear Friends,

We are just days away from the largest climate march in history! On Sunday, September 21, an estimated 1 million people will gather in New York City for the People’s Climate March in advance of the United Nations Climate Summit. Will you join me there to make history?

Plans for this historic gathering continue to take shape. One new development is that the faith communities participating in the march have been asked to gather on West 58th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. The pre-march public interfaith service will take place there at 11 a.m. I invite all Unitarian Universalists participating in the march to join me there.

The march will begin at 11:30 a.m. and leave from Columbus Circle and end on 11th Avenue between 34th Street and 38th Street. Learn more about UU events you can be a part of and be sure to RSVP to get updates as new developments take shape.

I hope to see you in your bright yellow Standing on the Side of Love t-shirts and sweatshirts in New York City to change history and demand climate justice now.

In faith,

The Rev. Peter Morales

President, Unitarian Universalist Association

P.S. Are you still not sure about the need to do something right now for climate change? Watch “Disruption,” a documentary about the devastating consequences of inaction in the face of climate change.

P.P.S. Don’t forget to sign up for Commit2Respond, a movement of UUs taking action for climate justice in 2014–2015 and beyond.
