Acting Faith Development Educator - Las Vegas, NV

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Las Vegas (UUCLV), 3616 East Lake Mead Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89115, is looking to immediately hire an Acting Faith Development Educator who teaches and administers the children and youth faith development programs. The Faith Development Educator collaborates regularly with minister, staff, and lay leaders. The essential functions of the position may change as the congregation develops a new vision for children and youth faith development.  Flex time, 12 hours a week, includes Sundays.

Essential Functions

Teaching

  • Lead Sunday sessions for neuro-diverse, K-8th grade children
  • Foster a safe environment for children and youth
  • Lead or recruit others to participate in Time for All Ages in worship in consultation with the Minister and/or Worship Associates Team
  • Participate in occasional multi-generational worship with Minister

Program Administration

  • Recruit, support, and schedule leaders for Sunday sessions K-8
  • Recruit and train advisors for youth programming
  • Oversee regular OWL program, including recruiting trained facilitators

Administration and Communication

  • Maintain registration files and lists of children and youth enrolled in program
  • Administer program budget, in consultation with the Minister
  • Monitor and maintain faith development supplies, learning areas, nursery space, and children’s library
  • Communicate with congregation (e.g., newsletter articles, blog, social media posts, etc.)

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Follow and model safer congregations policies and guidelines
  • Participate in educational opportunities to advance UU knowledge and skills
  • Maintain membership with the Liberal Religious Educators Association (LREDA) and the UUA by attending meetings, conferences, and/or workshops

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years experience in education
  • Experience teaching neuro-diverse children and youth
  • Ability to work most Sundays
  • Willing to take and pass a background check

Physical Requirements

  • Able to move freely in and out of different settings: church building and businesses
  • Ability to use a personal computer, printer, and other office equipment to support the role
  • Willing to speak or learn to speak in a public forum
