Full name: Rev. Karen Mooney
Rev. Karen Mooney (she/her) is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist who grew up in rural(ish) Wisconsin. She learned the art of church from her parents, who were very involved in the Mequon congregation where they were members for over 50 years. She has served as the Executive Co-Director for UU Advocacy Network of IL, building networks of people to work in solidarity on the issues of our world. Karen also served as Minister/ Exec. Director of Unitarian Universalist Prison Ministries of IL for almost 4 years, building an organization that brings the UU faith and its values to people impacted by the prison industrial complex. She was honored to offer circles of care for those locked up in prisons and jails and supporting all those affected by the wide net of incarceration. Karen claims to have been educated far and wide by working and playing, listening and walking with people. Ultimately she loves that UU communities are places where you find people who are alive and seeking throughout their lives.
