What is the Multicultural Leadership Institute?
A new leadership development initiative from Multicultural Ministries, part of the Unitarian Universalist Association's Multicultural Growth and Witness staff group, designed to inspire, equip, and nurture professional and lay religious leaders who are committed to creating intentionally diverse, welcoming, inclusive, justice-centered, multicultural and multigenerational ministries.
The Multicultural Leadership Institute recognizes that transforming Unitarian Universalist (UU) institutions to become part of a larger Beloved Community that fully honors people of all identities, experiences, and cultures requires visionary leadership. In addition to providing experiential learning and fostering learning communities for congregational transformation, the Multicultural Leadership Institute provides resources that enable Unitarian Universalists to develop the intercultural knowledge and skills necessary to participate effectively in social justice coalitions that cross multiple identities.
The Multicultural Leadership Institute's resources include leadership development and community building/organizing materials, educational curricula, workshops, worship and ceremonial guides, and information referrals. Our staff also consult with ministers, religious professionals, and lay leaders who are engaged in anti-racist, anti-oppressive, multicultural transformation of congregations.
The Multicultural Leadership Institute's current programs include Mosaic Makers: Leading Vital Multicultural Congregations Conferences and the Finding Our Way Home Retreat for UU Religious Professionals of Color.
