UU the Vote

Our UUA has a new, values-based electoral justice effort officially launching this month—UU the Vote. UU the Vote supports UU congregations and UU organizations with resources to mobilize voters, counter voter suppression, and engage in spiritually grounded, values-based issue conversations with voters in their communities during the 2020 election year.

This is a grassroots campaign that relies on grassroots support. There is a team building toolkit, videos, newsletter, and other items to get you started. Stay tuned for the arrival of a comprehensive guide for UU the Vote in January 2020. The guide will include detailed information on religious institutions engaged in political campaigns and IRS rules, building a team, finding community partners, activating your base, and accessing resources.

Grants of $500 are available to UU groups engaged in UU the Vote activities. There is also a link to donate to the campaign. Finally, there is a nation-wide zoom call to launch the program on January 12 at 3:00 PM Central/4:00 PM Eastern time. We hope you will gather friends and members for a launch party! To join the January 12th online launch, be sure to sign up here and then fill out this host form. For tips on hosting, download the UUA’s congregational toolkit and see pages 5-8.
