September Welcome

By Lisa Presley

Rev. Lisa Presley

Friends,

There’s something that makes me come alive when September comes. Perhaps it’s the multiple years of school starting, and the smell of new pencils, notebooks, and paper. Maybe it’s the beginning coolness in the air that spurs me to move faster. I don’t know what it is, but I love the fall when things rev back up again!

One of the things that is revving back up is my focus on Safe Congregations work. Each region has a person who is the point for anyone who has questions or situations that involve the safety of your congregation—whether that’s physical safety like sheltering in and evacuation, administrative safety like background checks and best ways to safeguard data, programming safety like protecting our children, or issues around destructive behavior like creating behavioral covenants and destructive behavior policies. I am honored to be that person for MidAmerica. Know that you can call me, or email me, and I’ll do my best to help you access the resources you need. I can also come and do workshops for groups of congregations on any of these safety questions. There’s always more we can do, and we can also learn to do things one bite at a time. Be in touch if you have questions or concerns!

I hope that your start to the fall is going well. We welcome your questions, and invite you to share your joys.
