The MidAmerica Chalice Lighter Committee is pleased to announce the recipient of the Fall 2022 Chalice Lighter Call: The Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Kentucky.

In 1998 the church added an additional building, but the parking area was never expanded to meet the congregation’s need to provide a welcoming space for members and visitors. Currently, overflow parking is in a sometimes muddy or frozen area that can be treacherous to navigate and adds to soil erosion. This Chalice Lighters grant will help provide significant improvements that will upgrade the church’s parking situation in an environmentally sustainable manner. The UU Church of Lexington has long been a leader in environmental issues, and this project will allow them to build on that leadership by making changes to their campus that will reduce the impact on the local environment.
