Throughout history UUs have made a difference by living their UU faith. We know some of their stories. There is quite a bit written about the “famous UUs.” But what about the people in our congregations, past and present, who live this faith every day? What do we know about them? Has your congregation ever thought about writing down these stories?

The UU History Renaissance Module offers its students an opportunity to do a project related to our UU history. Twinks Hastings, Children and Youth Ministries Director in Brewster, MA and Joanne Dingus, Director of Religious Education in Newport News, VA have paired up to create a collection of stories from our congregations.

What are they looking for?

Each submission should be between 300-500 words submitted as a Word Document. Each congregation may submit as many stories as they like. Each story should include details about the person, how they live their faith and when and where the story took place. Please provide a picture of the person if you can.

The deadline for the initial collection of stories will be June 30, 2019. Depending on the interest in this project, additional collections may be requested in the future.

Twinks and Joanne envision this collection being used in several ways. Church committees may choose to read a story as inspiration at the beginning of a meeting. Religious Educators may find stories that would work for A Time for All Ages. Congregants might read a story each day as a spiritual practice.
