August 2021 Welcome

Gretchen Ohmann 2020

Gretchen Ohmann, Technology Coordinator

It's that time of year—MidAmerica Region is requesting updated contact information for your congregation's staff and elected leaders. Accurate info allows us to make sure your leaders receive the latest news from the MidAmerica Region regarding regional events, connection and education opportunities, and other ongoing programs to develop congregational leaders. Since we do not share a unified database with the UUA, we specifically ask you for updates each summer.

Your congregation’s administrator or main contact person should have gotten an email from us in July with this request. We included a spreadsheet of the leaders we currently have emails for. You can also inform us of leadership changes at any time by filling out the Leaders Update Form.

Please also encourage your leaders to subscribe to our Regional Newsletter. In this August issue, you’ll find news of our upcoming Future Change Framework workshop on August 7, an announcement for our upcoming national Compass event in December, a dismantling white supremacy culture resource entitled “Whiteness at Work,” updates from the Article II Study Commission, news from our MidAmerica Region History and Heritage Committee, a link to major GA 2021 on-demand event videos, Iowa UU Witness/Advocacy Network’s “Queer Your Faith” program, an in-person retreat in Michigan sponsored by the UU Women’s Connection, and much more focused resources and events.

As we move into the warm days of summer, I hope your congregations are navigating well through this extraordinary period of inventing yet another way to “do church.” In-person? Multi-platform? Online? How to decide? As always, MidAmerica Region’s Congregational Life Consultants are here to help you find the resources and support you need.

Peace,

Gretchen Ohmann
