Dear MidAmerica Chalice Lighter,
As you know, the goal of the Chalice Lighter program is to help fund the specific growth projects of MidAmerica congregations by pooling together a number of donations from Unitarian Universalists across our region. Over the years, thanks to you, we have been able to consistently fund projects from all corners of the region.
The MidAmerica Regional Chalice Lighter Committee is pleased to announce the following congregations have been chosen for the Winter Chalice Lighter call:
The Headwaters Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bemidji, Minnesota, is seeking funds to build a Peace Center that will serve as both a gathering space for the congregation and a means to connect with the community. They believe that creating a welcoming space for all—especially learning spaces for children—will encourage individuals and families to join their fellowship. They would also like to include as many environmentally sustainable features into the building as possible.
The Michael Servetus Unitarian Society in Fridley, Minnesota, has for the past year and a half been actively exploring new buildings in hopes of moving out of their current home which they’ve outgrown. As part of the process, they would like to engage the services of Stewardship for Us (https://stewardshipforus.com) to help them make their intention to move to a new building a reality by providing consulting and capital campaign support. Their hope is to move into a space where they can realize their mission and dreams as soon as possible once they’ve found the right building.
Both of these congregations are UUA Honor Congregations, which means they have made their full requested financial contribution to both the UUA and MidAmerica. And they have made a commitment to increase the number of Chalice Lighters within their congregations.
For this year’s Winter Call, please donate by March 31, 2019.
We thank you for your support of the growth of Unitarian Universalism in our Region! There are several ways you can participate in the Chalice Lighter program, with four suggested levels of donation:

$20 Believer
$50 Builder
$100 Benefactor
$250 Beacon

These are amounts that would be donated three times each year upon receipt of the Call Letter in Fall, Winter and Spring.
If you’d prefer, for tax purposes, to make one donation per year (please send the $60 minimum donation or any greater amount to be divided among the next three Calls) you can send in your check now, and we will hold the funds and divide them equally across the three Calls. If you want to make an annual donation, please be sure to note “Annual Donation” in the memo field of your check.
There are two ways to donate to the 2019 Winter Chalice Lighter Call:

• You can go to the Chalice Lighter webpage: https://www.uua.org/midamerica/giving and click on the Donate option of your choice; or
• Write a check out to MidAmerica Region. Please note “Chalice Lighters Winter 2019 Call” or “Annual Donation” in the memo line and send it to the MidAmerica Region, 2355 Fairview Avenue #312, Roseville, MN 55113.

For those of you who are annual donors, you are receiving this Call Letter and will receive subsequent letters to keep you updated on what your funds are being used for. You are not being asked to send more money once you have made your annual donation for a given calendar year unless you wish to do so.
