Dear MidAmerica Chalice Lighter,

The Chalice Lighter Committee would like to thank you for making our Fall Chalice Lighter Call a success! Thanks to you, we raised the funds necessary to help the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lexington, Kentucky, upgrade the church’s parking situation in an environmentally sustainable manner.

For our Winter Chalice Lighter Call, we’re seeking donations to help All Souls Unitarian Church in Indianapolis live out their commitment to being a multigenerational and multiracial community. Having called the Rev. Katie Romano Griffin, the first Latinx minister ever to serve their congregation in its 119 year history, as their Senior Minister, the congregation is seeking to expand their partnership work with the Latinx community. The grant will also allow All Souls to expand administration staff hours and offer Spanish language immersion and training for key staff and volunteers.

All Souls Unitarian Church is committed to growing Unitarian Universalism in a state that desperately needs our liberal faith. This grant will make it possible for them to do this work well, to do it intentionally, and to fairly compensate and support key staff and lay leaders of all ages, including their BIPOC staff and lay leaders, while they provide this necessary inreach and outreach to the Latinx community.

For this year’s Winter Call, please donate by March 31, 2023.

There are several ways you can participate in the Chalice Lighter program, with four suggested levels of donation:

• $20 Believer
• $50 Builder
• $100 Benefactor
• $250 Beacon

These are amounts that would be donated three times each year upon receipt of the Call Letters for the Fall, Winter and Spring Calls.

If you’d prefer, for tax purposes, to make one donation per year (please send the $60 minimum donation or any greater amount to be divided among the next three Calls), you can send in your check now, and we will hold the funds and divide them equally across the three Calls. If you want to make an annual donation, please be sure to note “Annual Donation” in the memo field of your check.

There are two ways to donate to the 2023 Winter Chalice Lighter Call.

• Write a check out to MidAmerica Region UUA. Please note “Chalice Lighters Winter 2023 Call” or “Annual Donation” in the memo line and send it to the MidAmerica Region UUA, 2355 Fairview Ave. N. #312, Roseville, MN 55113.

Whichever way you choose, please know that we are grateful for your generous support!

For those of you who are annual donors, you are receiving this Call Letter and will receive subsequent letters to keep you updated on what your funds are being used for as well as keep you informed about any changes in the Chalice Lighter Program. You are not being asked to send more money once you have made your annual donation for a given calendar year unless you wish to do so.
