#OurDayInCourt - What You Need to Know!
On Tuesday, October 8, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on whether to take away existing employment protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in the following cases:
- Altitude Express v. Zarada
A skydiving instructor was fired for being gay!...and NOT BECAUSE OF PERFORMANCE! - Bostock v. Clayton County
A child welfare employee was fired for being gay!...and NOT BECAUSE OF PERFORMANCE! - R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes v. EEOC and Aimee Stephens
A funeral home employee was fired after coming out as transgender!...and NOT BECAUSE OF PERFORMANCE!
The court has the opportunity to uphold current employment protections for LGBTQ+ people, as well as expand those protections to states where they don't currently exist.
JOIN US to send a loud and clear message: All LGBTQ+ people should be able to make a living, and support themselves without fear of discrimination at work!
What's at Stake?
1. Existing protections are on the line!
2. Anti-LGBTQ discrimination is a human issue!
3. We need the Equality Act now!
A win on October 8 would only cover EMPLOYMENT, but the Equality Act will extend protections in all aspects of life.

What's Not Helpful?
Don't say we have no protections.
We are not asking for new rights.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 codifies protections on the basis of sex, which includes LGBTQ+ persons.
Don't suggest explicit protections are better than existing protections.
We don't want special rights, but equal protection under the law.
Don't suggest a ruling would create drastic change.
A win would relate only to employment protections.
A loss would reinforce the urgent need for the Equality Act.
