Youth Involvement

As part of the mission to inform Unitarian Universalists (UUs) about ways to build and foster a world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all, the Unitarian Universalist Office at the United Nations (UU@UN) aims to include all ages in this learning and action-taking endeavor. The UU@UN encourages multigenerational involvement with all our initiatives and programs, and we have developed several specifically for youth of approximately high school age.

Youth can engage with the UU@UN in the following ways:

  1. Serve as Youth Envoys in their congregations

    • As a Youth Envoy, you represent the UU@UN in your congregation. Gain leadership experience, plan events and fundraisers, work with a multigenerational team to plan a UN Sunday service, and get to know other Envoys from around the US & Canada. We encourage Envoys to work in multigenerational teams or committees.
  2. Attend the annual Intergenerational Spring Seminar
    • Youth have the unique opportunity to serve on the leadership for the Seminar as Youth Deans, Youth Chaplains, and volunteers.
  3. Intern with our office
    • Our summer internship program provides young people an exciting opportunity to learn about the United Nations and to work in support of its efforts to eradicate injustice and promote human rights around the world.
