The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at Salisbury celebrated UU-UNO Sunday on October 21, 2018. Vicky Demos, sociologist and UU-UNO envoy, was the speaker on, “The United Nations and Immigration: The Local Connection.” Her presentation was the second in a series of three on the topic of immigration. It addressed October’s theme: Respect for the Interdependent Web of All Existence, of Which We Are a Part. She briefly described the conflicted history of US immigration and refugee status and presented some current data on immigration to Maryland and its Lower Shore. Readings and music were selected to coincide with the occasion and included, Joshua Mason Pawelek’s “There is No Clash of Civilizations,” and Arlo Guthrie’s, “Deportees.”
