Coming to America
Date: Passed: Saturday, March 2, 2019, 10:00 pm EST
Reverend Nica Eaton-Guinn presented a service that encouraged us to consider our own stories of how we reached this land. From the beginning of the United States we’ve seen exclusionary laws and values. We need to be mindful of our past and move forward with a vision of our varied cultures as a beautiful mosaic and embrace world community and question fear based nationality.
The offering was called for by our new UN Envoy Christine Blasman. She spoke of being at a UN Sunday service and how it inspired her to see the connection between our Social Action activities locally and the world community. The offering was dedicated to the UU-UNO.
The coffee hour between the Service’s was a rich opportunity to discuss reaction to the service and share ideas of social action in the future.
Christine also spoke to three levels of our Religious Education students with the hope of encouraging interest in the UU-UNO.
