The sterilization of trans people is an act of violence. Although it violates International Law, in some countries sterilization is required for people to get legal recognition of their gender. It is one of the many acts of discrimination trans folx face globally. This panel will feature LGBTQ activists who will discuss human rights, legislation surrounding trans rights, healthcare rights, and the prevention of sterilization.

This event was originally scheduled for March 10 as an official Parallel Event of the NGO CSW64 Forum of the United Nations 2020 Commission on the Status of Women in New York City March 9-20, 2020. Since CSW64 was cancelled due to COVID-19, the event is shifted online!
