My name is Ashley Emuka and I am excited to be working with the Unitarian Universalist Association at the United Nations this year! As a UU@UN intern, I hope to use this opportunity to learn more about global collaboration and advocacy for radical change to serve marginalized people worldwide.

Currently, I am a second-year graduate student in the Master’s in Public Health and Social Work dual degree program at New York University (NYU). I earned a B.A. in Global Health with a Minor in Sociocultural Anthropology from UC San Diego, and I have participated in a service initiative in Cambodia and conducted international drug policy research in Mexico.

I am passionate about alleviating global poverty, eliminating health disparity, and promoting transformative social justice. As a first-generation Nigerian American, I center my work around a commitment to combatting institutionalized racism, discrimination, and inequity globally. This internship will provide a chance for me to apply my knowledge and experiences to contribute to the immense platform that the Unitarian Universalist Association has built at the United Nations.

Thank you for welcoming me into your organization! Be sure to look out for the many virtual events that the UU@UN International Office has in store to work towards a more peaceful world.

We're proud to introduce all of our 2020-2021 academic interns:
