How to Calculate Operating Expenses

All Member Congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) are required to report their Operating Expenses during the annual Membership Certification.

To report Operating Expenses, you will need the following:

  • Prior Year Total Expenses
  • Prior Year Total Denominational Contributions (these are subtracted below)
    • Amount contributed to the UUA via the Annual Program Fund and to the District or Region, OR GIFT Program contributions
  • Prior Year Total Capital Expenses (these are subtracted below)
    • This varies, but could include mortgage principal, or other capital expenditures not related to regular operating expenses
