UU Central East Region Summer Institute or CERSI will be held the second week of July at Oberlin College in Northeast Ohio, about 40 minutes west of Cleveland. We'll stay in college dorms with meals provided in the dining hall. There is a beautiful grassy quad to gather, college vibe and many dorm community spaces to lounge and fellowship during your spare time. If you're not taking a nap workshop, you can enjoy Oberlin shops, art museums, and playgrounds. Morning and evening worship services are available in person and online. Get ready to be inspired by this year's theme speaker Reverend Joanna Fontine Crawford, Live a Life on Fire: Change the World with Your Love. Let her wisdom and passion guide you on a transformative journey. Adults choose one morning seminar for the week with offerings including art, yoga and many engaging seminars. There's music everywhere at CERSI, whether you sing, play an instrument, or like to listen. Enjoy connecting with others during discussions, dances, board games, and communal meals. The Children's Program allows kids to create their own Summer Institute magic after morning worship, kids through sixth grade head to RE. Young adults worship at night after evening programming. Many gatherings include lounge areas, music and trivia games. The youth program includes more freedom and activities are planned by the youth. Mornings include a youth theme speaker, afternoon and evenings the youth participate in the same programs as the rest of the community. Later youth enjoy more of their own programming, including youth talent show, or Ultimate Frisbee. After lunch there are intergenerational workshops like tie-dye, body art, and creative art. We hope you will join us in 2025 for CERSI.
