CER Summer Institute or CERSI will be held July 9th through 15th at Penn West California University about an hour south of Pittsburgh On campus we'll live in the dorms and have meals provided at the dining hall We'll use many campus buildings for seminars, workshops, worship services, RE and more the open grassy spaces are ours to enjoy as is the hammock village and multiple sport and fitness facilities We'll have two dorms for all of our CERSI campers. Dorm rooms all have their own air conditioning and private bathrooms and their shared lounges for gathering on every floor campus Wi-Fi and free laundry are also available. Opening and Closing Ceremonies will start and end our week together and morning and evening worship services will be available both in person and online We've got an exciting speaker this year in CB Beal whose theme for the week is the Call is Coming from Inside the House; Preemptive Radical Inclusion and Practices for Witness Self-Examination and Change. It sounds heavy but CB is a speaker known for their humor and insight and we're sure you will find a message that speaks to you. Morning Seminars are for adults. You may choose one seminar for the week and with offerings from yoga, partner dancing, sewing and singing to more earnest discussions on religion race aging and ethics you're sure to find something that appeals to you. There's music everywhere at CERSI whether you sing play an instrument or just like to listen to others you'll find many ways to enjoy music throughout the week there are opportunities everywhere to enjoy the company of others from Community dances and ice cream socials to small group discussions, board games in the dorm lounges or joining in a drumming circle. Our children's program offers a variety of activities to encourage children to create their own Summer Institute Magic after morning worship kids from nursery through sixth grade head to RE for arts and crafts games stories and music. After lunch there are intergenerational workshops like tie-dye, body art science experiments and sing-alongs. Evenings offer games, a talent show, movies and dances just to name a few events. Young Adult worship at night after evening programming with their own young adult-led services. YA dorms and Lounge areas as well as trivia music and games offer up a lot of time to catch up with old friends or to make new ones. Joining the youth ranks at Summer Institute is a special thing. It's a lot more freedom from one's parents or guardians and involvement in activities planned and run by the youth themselves. Afternoons and evenings, youth participate in the same activities as the rest of the community sports, body art, dances, movies and all sorts of fun and games later in the evenings. Youth enjoy more of their own programming including the youth talent show or a game of ultimate frisbee each year the youth panel selects a theme speaker this year they will welcome Katie Kunz Weinland who will be supporting our youth as they take authentic unboxed and surprising journeys of self-acceptance healing liberation and homeless CERSI is an intentional intergenerational community that gets created and recreated each summer as we come together as Unitarian Universalists whether you have attended many times before or this might be your first visit we hope you will join us this July 9th through 15th you can find more information to register online at www.CERSIUU.org
