I hear that the best BBQ in Kansas City is at Jack Stacks. Can anyone confirm, or suggest other great places to eat?

Depends on who you ask - the big ones are Jack Stack, Q39, and Joe's KC. I think Jack Stack has the best sides, but Q39 has the best BBQ.
I agree with the above comment - lots of opinions about BBQ in KC. I love Q39. The difference for me is ambience. Jack Stack is pretty fancy - white table cloths, low lighting. Q39 is more informal with food served on metal trays and in baskets.
Arthur Bryant's is a staple - and my favorite location is close to the Jazz District (17th and Brooklyn). It is very informal - you stand in line and they pile up the meat on Wonder Bread. But the meat is awesome and the sauce is kickin.
I got a recommendation from a friend; will have to look it up again. . . will post when I do.
Arthur Bryant’s was in fact my friend’s recommendation—said stay away from Gates, but IDK why. I am thinking about that for tomorrow night; there is a jam session at the Blue Room at 1616 18th, hopefully close (need to pull out map): https://americanjazzmuseum.org/event/blue-monday-jam-session-2
