Guest In Your Pulpit - Mike Harris
Now retired, Mike Harris serves the larger community as a mediator for the Maryland and District of Columbia courts and the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County. He is an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Attorney/Client Arbitration Board of the District of Columbia Bar.
Mike is a member of the Cedar Lane UU Church in Bethesda, MD. He has served his congregation as board chair, personnel chair, and pledge chair. He is a UUA compensation consultant and adjunct staff for the Central East Region specializing in conflict, governance, and "Healthy Congregations."
Titles of programs/sermons and a brief statement of content on each:
- Leaving a Legacy - on death, dying, and what we might leave behind (particularly useful when including the local endowment committee - and will need four congregants to do provided readings)
- Envisioning Our Future - looking at the present & future of Unitarian Universalism (could have a talkback following)
- Communitarianism - an exploration of the evolution of "community" and its “value added” implications for Unitarian Universalist congregations from a Lake Woebegone perspective among others.
Availability: Travel distance is negotiable from Silver Springs, MD and he may need home hospitality on Saturday depending on distance.
Fee arrangements: The standard honorarium for your congregation/fellowship. It will be waived if there is the opportunity to discuss the UUA's Fair Compensation Program after the service.
