Join the UUA, UU College of Social Justice and other high school age youth for a 4-day experiential workshop to deepen our justice work as young UU's. Our time together will be spent two fold: the first will be to get out and about in Pittsburgh - learning about it's social movement landscape, the second will be exploring themes of change, resilience and organizing through creative arts and practices. We'll leave with new spiritual practices, new collaborators and hope about what we can accomplish together.
Registration costs for this immersion experience are fully funded by UUCSJ. In addition, we have funds allocated to reimburse travel expenses. Participants will be “living” at the church, where we will sleep and cook meals together. Transportation to community partner sites will be via car.
Registration is limited to 20 youth entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2022, or the homeschool equivalent.
Covid Protocols: Details of what practices will be observed during the week will be provided prior to arrival, based on current recommendations for the area in which we’ll be staying. Participants are required to be fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (and boosted if applicable) and will need to show proof prior to arrival as well as a negative Covid-19 test. Rapid testing will happen again upon arrival. All participants will be asked to provide a Covid-19 contingency plan, including pick up by a responsible adult, in the event they test positive for Covid-19 during the event.
Contact Shannon Harper (email@example.com) for any questions concerning the program or logistics of Sowing Seeds.
Please note when registering you will need to answer several questions and provide a recommender name, email and phone from your congregation. The questions include:
- What interests you about attending Sowing Seeds?
- What do you hope to gain from this experience?
- Do you anticipate any challenges to participating in this experience?
- And what supports do you need to help you participate fully?
Registration closes when 20 youth are registered or July 7th.
