CANCELLED—MA-YMC MidAtlantic Youth Fall Conference DC 18
Type of event: Conference
For the first Sr High youth event in the Mid-Atlantic area (formerly Joseph Priestly District), we'll be exploring spiritual and faith development. We'll share spiritual practices and why they are important to survive and thrive in a world with increasing social and political stressers. We'll practice creating and leading worship experiences that speak to young people and multi-generational groups. And we'll begin re-building the beloved community of youth ministry.
This CON is for Sr Highers in 9th-12th grades or the home school equivalent, at least 14 and not over 19. If you do not fit within those guidelines but feel you are appropriate to attend this event please contact Shannon Harper sharper [at] uua [dot] org. Each youth attending should have a designated adult sponsor. Adult sponsors must be at least 25 years of age and approved to attend youth events by a religious professional at their congregation.
Parking near the church is complicated, public transportation or "drop-offs" are recommended. We will need to shuttle overnight parkers to the church. More details will be shared with registrants.
Packing: pack whatever you need to be comfortable living in a church for 36 hours. There will be no beds or couches. Food will be provided. Toiletries (toothbrush/toothpaste/floss, deodorant, etc), sleeping bags/mattresses, warm clothes, etc. are safe bets. Packing a mess kit for meals is encouraged/appreciated! Musical instruments are also lots of fun.
Capacity for this event is 50 youth. If the form is closed and we are not yet at the deadline, please contact the registrar to be placed on the waiting list. The required youth to adult ratio is 5:1.
Fee: $30 per youth. Sponsors are free.
New this year, you may pay by credit card when you register, however that will increase your fee by $1 per person. If you pay by check or cash, you must bring that with you to the con. No credit card payments on site.
If you are unable to pay the full registration fee and need a full or partial waiver you may request that on the registration form. You will be notified if your request is denied. Please bring your partial payment with you. Payment must be made in cash or by check made payable to UUA-CER. You cannot make a partial payment via credit card.
If this is your first conference, please read the Behavioral Expectations which describes our expectations of youth and adults attending youth events in the region and the CER Youth Event Procedures and Requirements. You will be asked about these documents in the registration process.
