Homeless on Hilliard Youth Cluster Event 2020
Type of event: Training
The West Shore youth group is inviting other youth groups to join them for this annual event. We will begin the evening with dinner together and then prepare for the evening. At this event youth create shelters so that they can sleep outside on the church lawn. They will have a campfire and create a “Stone Soup” to sustain them through the night. They will be raising awareness for homelessness, building community, and soliciting donations of money and items to donate to area agencies that provide support for homeless individuals. West Shore youth have chosen menstrual products (tampons and sanitary pads) as their focus for donations. Participants are encouraged to raise awareness in their home congregations and solicit donations of products or cash to bring to contribute.
Capacity for this event is 35 youth. The required youth to adult ratio is 7:1. Each congregation must send one responsible adult. This event is for youth in grades 7-12 or home school equivalent and at least 12 years old.
Dinner will be provided by West Shore and will have options for vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free dietary restrictions. This event will be nut-free, but the facility is not.
