Type of event: Training

Sponsor: Central East Region of the UUA, First UU Society of Albany, Albany, NY

After moving away from managing the daily business and operations of a church, a congregational board is left with the question "What are we supposed to be doing?" The "How to Be a Strategic Board" Workshop answers that question! Board members will learn about the Five Tasks of a Strategic Board, including Policy Generation, Fiduciary Responsibility, Mission / Vision Discernment, Strategic Planning, and Congregational Assessment. The workshop will empower Board Leaders with resources on how to live into each of these strategic tasks. While the Board Basics Course is not a prerequisite, this course will build on the material from the Board Basics Course. If you are a congregational Board Member, or may be one someday, and if your Board wants to spend less time managing operations and more on leading the mission and vision of your congregation, then this is the workshop for you!

Led by Rev. David Pyle, Central East Region Governance Program Manager.
