Effective Stewardship and Annual Drives 2017
Type of event: Training
Please note that this workshop was originally scheduled for Jan 14 but was postponed due to weather. If you registered for the January workshop, your registration was automatically moved to this date unless you advised us otherwise.
The workshop will enable participants to re-energize their stewardship efforts for our times, with a special focus on annual budget drives. It will present best practices and explore how new ideas and approaches stack up.
The workshop will support the work of stewardship leaders in that it will address organizing and planning effective campaigns, creating a compelling stewardship message and case for giving, recruiting visiting stewards, and developing and executing effective communication and engagement plans. It will also support the work of visiting stewards (canvassers) in making appointments, conducting one-on-one stewardship conversations, making an effective ask, and serving as passionate, confident ambassadors for Unitarian Universalism and their congregations in engaging with fellow congregants.
We will cover bigger picture themes such as trends and best practices in modern UU stewardship including use of technology, engaging new members, and talking more comfortably about money in church. And given the election results and the likelihood that Unitarian Universalism will be in increasing demand as we are called to provide safety and advocacy for marginalized people, we will explore potential implications for stewardship.
Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and address their questions and challenges.
Presenters: Barry Finklestein from StewardshipforUs and Rev. David Pyle, CER Congregational Life Staff.
Cost: $15 per participant.
