Re-Energizing Our UU Faith

The First Unitarian Church of Wilmington invites you to an evening of fellowship, learning and renewal on Tuesday, March 13th @ 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Child care available by reservation. If you are planning to come for dinner we’d appreciate knowing in advance, but last-minute attendance is also welcome. (email roberta [at] firstuuwilm [dot] org (roberta)roberta [at] firstuuwilm [dot] org (@firstuuwilm.org) to request child care or to rsvp for dinner.)

6:30 p.m. We will gather in the Parish Hall for a light dinner. Over dinner Rev. David Pyle will bring us up to date on the latest happenings at the Unitarian Universalist Association 8 months into the Presidency of Rev. Susan Frederick Gray.

7:15 p.m. Workshop Break Outs

Rev. Pyle will lead “Practicing Peace in Times of Conflict and Challenge” Whether it is in a congregation, or amidst social justice actions, Unitarian Universalism calls us to be amidst times of crisis, conflict, and challenge. This workshop teaches a spiritual practice, based upon the teachings of Pema Chödron and the experience of justice actions in Southern California that can allow a congregant or an activist to be centered and calm amidst conflict. (Library)

Rev. Roberta Finkelstein will lead “How to Run a Meeting So You Feel Like You’ve Been to Church” We all come to our congregations needing to feel known, to have our spirits stretched, to feel cared for. Any committee meeting, when carefully planned, can meet those needs just as well as Sunday worship does. We can all minister to each other while doing the work of the congregation. (Warner Room)

Scott Ward, Honorary Minister of Music, will lead “Engaging Our Six Sources While Touring the Hymnal” Did you know that our hymnal is organized around the Six Sources of Unitarian Universalism. Scott will take you on a whirlwind tour of the hymnal, and you help you sing together out of each of the sources. (Sanctuary)

8:30 p.m. Closing Worship led by all three workshop leaders.
