Seminary for a Day: Revolutionary Love- Tools, Tactics and Truth Telling to Dismantle Racism

Keynote Presenter: Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis

This New Year demands of us, more than resolutions, a prophetic commitment of heart, mind, body, and spirit. There is a determined and hopeful spirit stirring in our beloved religious communities and in our country.

Now is the time for leaders to organize, to mobilize, and to lead. Leaders who feel called and equipped to make our nation well, to make it just, to make it safe for all of those who are on the margins. Leaders impassioned to work for a healed and whole nation that is a faithful global neighbor. Together we will rise to be part of a moral revolution for justice, equality, and freedom. Join us as we strategize across generations at Revolutionary Love: Tools, Tactics, & Truth Telling To Engage in Faithful Resistance on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017.

Our keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Lewis, Senior Minister, Middle Collegiate Church, New York, a 900-member multiracial, welcoming, pluralistic, and inclusive congregation in New York City. She is an activist, preacher, author, and fierce advocate for racial equality, economic justice, and LGBTQ equality. Middle Church and Jacqui’s prophetic activism for these issues has been featured widely in the media.

Jacqui will be joined by thought leaders and activists from around the region who will lead workshops and discussion groups on a range of topics including intersectionality, combating Islamophobia, protecting immigrant rights, and being a sanctuary.

Afternoon workshops will be offered. Presenters include:

  • Rev. Rob Keithan, All Souls UU Church in Washington, DC
  • Rachel Laser, Trainer on white privilege & racism
  • Pablo DeJesus, Executive Director, UUs for Social Justice (UUSJ)
  • Joelle Novey, Director, Greater Washington Interfaith Power & Light
