Original Blessing Announces New Programming Schedule

Since Fall 2015, Original Blessing has met twice a month at Greenpoint’s San Damiano Mission Church, offering our special blend lay-led, uniquely inspired worship and celebration.  It is by the faithful goodwork of our core group that we’ve kept our fire burning, survived the difficult transition away from traditional, ministerial leadership, and finally arrived at this moment of new beginnings.

Our last newsletter announced that all public OB events were on hold, and in the interim we have been hard at work; we’ve convened, discussed, and decided to move forward on a new path:
Recognizing that small group ministry is a vital part of our existence as a congregation, we will continue to hold services at San Damiano once-a-month, but will also gather on a weekly basis to share pot-luck dinner, to feed our spiritual hunger, and to tend to the flames of communal worship.  These gatherings will be hosted by any of us who may volunteer to offer their home on a Sunday evening.

The first of these gatherings will be held on January 8th at my apartment in Prospect Lefferts.  If you're interested in joining us on the 8th, please contact me for more details.

Our services will be held on the third Sunday of each month, starting on January 15th at 6pm.   Until otherwise announced, these services will be held at San Damiano Mission Church in Greenpoint.

Having served as a musician for Original Blessing since its inception in 2012, and having been elected music director last year, I now feel an expanded sense of belonging and a deepening desire to work for and to lead Original Blessing into the future.  After prolonged discussion with members of the board, I have decided to accept the position of director and to assume responsibility for many of its day-to-day operations.  I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity!

And so, as the new year approaches, our call to action grows louder.  Our collective voice fell briefly silent this fall, but our message of mutuality rings steady and true.   We confess.  We continue to belong to each other, and we choose not to neglect the bonds of brotherhood that brought us together four years ago.

With faith,

Louis Jalet Miller
Director, Original Blessing
