DO YOU FAITHIFY?
Have you heard about FAITHIFY, the UU crowdfunding platform? This program is designed to match UU based programs and UU funders with each other, making it easier for you to find projects that reflect your values and interests and programs to find the funding they need.
Several CER congregations and clusters have used Faithify to raise money for programs ranging from fire recovery to youth programs to supporting social justice projects.
Find projects that you want to support, learn more about how FAITHIFY works, and how to use it in your congregation at their website, Faithify.org. Have an idea for a project that needs some financial help? See if Faithify can help you!
It's Certification Time!
Each year, all UUA member congregations are required to submit their annual Certification of Membership report online by the end of business on February 1. You may file the report online, and review the Certification Worksheet for congregations, when you log in to the congregation's Data Services account online. An email detailing the process with a direct link that automatically logs you in was sent to every congregational president in November. You can learn more at the UUA website.
And while you are in the system - please update your congregational leadership information at myuua.org as well!
Better Together Blog: Living Into Spaces of Not-Knowing
Is there uncertainty in your or your congregation? Maybe you’re in search for a new minister or wondering if you’re doing the “right” justice work or don’t know what to do with your building. Perfect. Perfect timing. This is the season of Advent. The time of waiting and emptying and not knowing.
The spiritual lesson of Advent is that the holy to be born in our lives and hearts we must make room. When we are too full of our own certainty and knowledge, there isn’t room for the surprise of the holy.

UU Leadership Institute Spring Courses
The UUA has made it easy and affordable for your congregational leaders to learn together, taking core leadership courses as a group, and then using what you learned by applying it to case studies and other activities through the UU Leadership Institute.
- Faithful Leadership is a great beginning course, covering how our history, theology and polity inform our faith communities.
- Centered Leadership focuses on healthy relationships and communications, developing a shared sense of purpose, and how to lead through a change.
- Strategic Leadership is for boards, strategic planning committees, bylaws task forces, etc. helping you lead strategically through governing documents and processes.
- Adaptive Leadership helps leaders develop a more nuanced view of the congregation as a system during uncertain times.
The courses each have 8 sessions. They open every 2 weeks, and each participant will get an email when each new module is open. The cost is only $30 per course per semester per participant. There is a combination of YouTube video presentations by UUA Congregational Life staff and guests, as well as readings and links to more resources. The first module opens January 26, 2018, so you have plenty of time to enroll!

2018 Congregational Study Issue Update - Although the congregational poll is now open, voting on proposed Congregational Study Action Issues (CSAIs) will not be available until early January. All other portions of the annual certification are available now. The Commission on Social Witness decided to postpone making draft CSAI(s) available until January so they can work with proposers to explore the possibility of combining issues. Pitting one issue against another when there are so many social justice issues that are important feels inconsistent with our work toward becoming more inclusive and less tied to the white supremacy culture that requires winners and losers. To ensure you have time to review the possible CSAI(s), consider scheduling a congregational opportunity in January. The CSW will notify congregations when drafts are available. If you have questions or concerns about this decision, send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org.
