General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process. Anyone may attend; congregations must certify annually to have voting delegates.
General Assembly 2021 will be a fully virtual event due to the continuing pandemic and the uncertainty of vaccine distribution. This means anyone with internet access can attend! We will gather on June 23-27, 2021.
Circle 'Round for Justice ● Healing ● Courage is the theme for General Assembly 2021. GA is a time to circle ‘round in community. We circle ‘round in care and healing; for liberation and justice; and for love and courage. We study ways to implement and live into our mission. UUA GA 2021 will incorporate recommendations from the Commission on Institution Change report, “Widening the Circle of Concern” and dialogue with the Article II Commission about our Principles and Purposes.
Registration is open for General Assembly and the registration fee is $200 per person. Financial Aid is available, see the registration webpage for details. You do not need to be a delegate to attend however, only delegates can vote in general sessions. Congregations must certify by February 17th with the UUA in order to send delegates. Not sure what certification means? The UUA Certification Page explains and links to resources to help your congregation complete this important step.
Please take note of these deadlines:
- Proposals for programs are due by January 29th. These are what we would traditionally call "workshops". These can be on demand, live and interactive, or featured speakers. Details and the application form are available on the GA Proposing a Program Page.
- Proposals for the Virtual Poster Fair are due by March 1st. Stories, initiatives and examples for inspiring work in Unitarian Universalism will be featured in the Virtual Poster Fair, available to GA registrants through the GA Participation Portal. Details and the application form are available on the GA Proposing a Program Page.
- Want to be a volunteer for General Assembly? Volunteering waives your $200 registration fee in exchange for working during the event. A variety of roles are needed and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. The sooner you apply, the more opportunities available. The full list of options with descriptions and applications can be found on the GA Volunteer Opportunities Page.
General Assembly is an opportunity to gather with other Unitarian Universalists to learn, share, celebrate and challenge each other. Join us to engage in conversations that will shape our faith into the next several years.
