Have you heard of No Child Goes Hungry?

No Child Goes Hungry (NCGH) is a nonprofit envisioned and created by UU minister, Rev. Kären Rasmussen. With the dream of eliminating childhood hunger in every neighborhood, NCGH's concept is pretty simple. Kären does the fundraising and then provides grants and seed money to congregations and different groups to feed kids in their community. There are even free lesson plans on the website to help you teach children and adults how to eliminate hunger! Kären also coaches and mentors groups, at no cost, on how you can make an impact locally.

So far, NCGH has helped over 45 UU congregations, interfaith churches, schools, and food pantries make a difference in the lives of children. Whether it's sending food home on the weekends for kids in need, providing much-needed food during the summer months or holidays, or building a Little Free Pantry, there are so many ways that you can make a difference. Each meal matters to a child, and each NCGH donation makes a significant impact, one kid, one meal at a time.

How can you help feed kids in your local community?

Locally, so far, UU of Columbia, River Road, Cedar Lane, First UU of Baltimore, the Washington Ethical Society, Mount Vernon, Reston, Accotink, and Sterling have all received grant funds and have done great things to feed kids. Read more on our website at nochildgoes hungry.net, or reach out to Rev. Kären at kmrasmussen@nochildgoeshungry.net to see how you might help kids in your community too.

Accotink UU with No Child Goes Hungry Grant

Congratulations to the Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church Social Justice Committee for winning the UUs for Social Justice program award!  Their work with No Child Goes Hungry and implementing a food justice program working with a local elementary is such an inspiration.  They have also just started a weekly mentoring program.
