The UU College of Social Justice is excited to invite you to our newest program, Practice the Practice: Experiential Education Pedagogy for Religious Professionals!

Our goals for this program are for participants to leave with a deeper understanding of how to create and run justice-centered experiential education programming, as well as leave with deepened relationships with practitioners that they might call on for support as they put theory into practice.

TIME:

Online:

We will meet via Zoom for 2 hours (with a small break!) every other Thursday, 3 - 5pm ET
We will meet on these Thursdays: Feb 20, March 6, March 20, April 3, April 17, 2025

In-Person Practicum, New Orleans, LA (Optional):

(10am) Tuesday, April 1 - (4pm) Friday, April 4
There will be housing available for program participants beginning 5pm on Monday, March 31

COST:

  • For those participating online only, the cost of this program is $395 per participant
  • For those participating online and in the optional New Orleans Practicum, the cost of this program is $1,695 per participant. This cost will cover facilitator fees, on-the-ground programming, shared housing, and collectively prepared meals. Please note, participant travel to and from New Orleans is not included in this program fee.

FINANCIAL AID: The UUCSJ is subsidizing many of the costs of this program, and is able to offer only a limited amount of financial aid. We understand that the cost for experiential learning programming can be substantial, which is why we are hoping that a byproduct of this program will be the eventual creation of justice-centered immersion learning in your communities.

Please reach out to us at info@uucsj.org if you would like to inquire about financial aid, or would like support in thinking through a fundraising program through your local congregations.

If you're an active member of LREDA there are professional development funding opportunities that can be applied for this program. Visit Religious Education Scholarships and Grants for more information.

Registration forms will be accepted through January 21, 2025.
