Professional Interim Training
By Jan Gartner
Interim Training for Staff
We have designed separate programming and resources for two audiences:
- Staff interested in serving congregations as interim professionals
- Staff serving in a congregation with an interim minister
For Staff Interested in Training for Transitional Roles
Foundations for Transitional Staff, a 3-unit, self-paced program, is now available! Complete this request form to receive the course booklet. (For those interested in receiving credit for completing the program, the Reflection Questions Document will be available by the end of March.)
The Guild of Interim Religious Educators offers periodic educational opportunities relevant to staff in or preparing for transitional roles. See the Education section of their website.
For Staff Working with an Interim Minister
We are pleased to make available these resources and encourage staff to engage them as a team.
- Interim Ministry: A Conversation for Congregational Staff (YouTube) (30-minute video): UUA staff who support ministerial transitions talk about interim ministry and how congregational staff can be part of the transitional process.
- Interim Ministry: A Primer for Congregational Staff (PDF): This updated resource includes FAQs, a reading list, an interim minister's reflection, and case studies to help congregational staff learn about interim ministry.
Professional Interim Training (Previous Program)
From 2012 to 2020, the UUA had offered an online interim training for professional staff. This course is no longer running. See the links above for alternatives.
