An in care program offers multidenominational liberal theological schools the ability to recruit and retain Unitarian Universalist students, increasing their tuition income and overall sustainability. More specifically, an in care system can
- provide organization and teaching staff for courses required for the Unitarian Universalist credentialing process
- build a coalition for students so they feel at home in the school
- help the school build relationships with congregations and clergy in the area, which can lead to collaboration in other areas such as fundraising and justice events.
In care programs can supplement the ministerial formation work of Unitarian Universalist identity schools through relationships built among congregations, area ministers and students. This can be particularly helpful for low-residency students.
