System Theory

The System Theory module will:

  • Examine human beings as emotional, intellectual, and physical beings. Everything humans create, discover, destroy, and build is born out of our humanity.
  • Explore and clarify what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist.
  • Discuss the human qualities that help and hinder the growth of the beloved community.

The overarching lens of System Theory will ground the experience and aid religious educators, and other religious professionals, to apply these learnings to their own professional context.Your facilitators for this training are Connie Goodbread and Cameron Young.

Connie Goodbread, (she/her/hers) currently serves as the Director of the Unitarian Universalist Association's HOPE for Us, Conflict Engagement Team. With Rev. Dr. Peter Steinke, Connie studied Healthy Congregations development and conflict identification and transformation. She developed a conflict process called Pathfinder, born out of the work with Rev. Dr. Peter Steinke. Connie served as Co-Lead of UUA Southern Region for three years and has served in one capacity or another in every region of our Association during her many years as UUA field staff.

Cameron Young, (they/them) is a lifelong Unitarian Universalist currently living in Fort Worth, Texas, and serving on Congregational Life Staff for the Southern Region. Though presently a minister-in-formation, Cameron’s roots of service in UU congregations were first as a volunteer and then as a full-time religious educator. Therefore they enjoy bringing a critical lens of faith development in ALL we do.
