Type of event: Training

The *NEWLY REVAMPED* UU Identity Sparks Module is designed to explore identity as both an aspect of Religious Education work and of one’s self.

The pilot of this module will take place online Thursdays, June 4, 11, 18, & 25, and July 16 & 23 (note the two-week break), 4-6pm EST, 3-5pm CST, 2-4pm MST, 1-3pm PST, 12-2pm ASKT, 11am-1pm HST. The module will be facilitated by Kelly Skinner, and Adena Dannouf, CRE-AL.

Registration is limited to 15 participants and the fee for this pilot6-session module is discounted at $240 with sliding scale, grant, and payment plan options available. More details are available in the registration form. The registration deadline is May 28, 2026.

Module Requirements

The UU Identity Renaissance module is an online learning experience comprised of six two-hour webinars with reading and other assignments for each session. Credit will be offered for full participation in the module. Full participation includes:

Online attendance at five two-hour sessions
Reading and reflection to prepare for each session
Responses to Reflection Questions on the Discussion Forum after each session.
Submission of final evaluation within a week of the ending of the module.

Goals of the Module

The overall goals of this module are:

Gain an understanding of identity as an ever-evolving process of human development which unfolds through the intersectionalities of heritage, cultures, values, rituals, and lived experiences;
Learn how this process unfolds across the lifespan, how it differs between youth raised as Unitarian Universalists and persons who came to the faith later in life and how to recognize wisdom across generations;
Explore ways to create reflective and inclusive spaces to encourage continual spiritual development and growth for both Religious Educators and those they serve; and
Examine the Unitarian Universalist core values, sources, and history of our faith as part of identity development and encourage pride and joy in being UU and part of an ever-evolving living tradition while also acknowledging challenges.

The required reading for this module is on UU Institute. Information to access this course material will be shared with you two weeks prior to the course start.

The webinar platform is Zoom, which you can download from Zoom.

If you have already participated in a UU Institute training, you will be able to use the account you have already created once your facilitators add the course to your profile.
