And Change it for Good

Although the effect of human activity on the climate is accepted (by most people), governments have thus far failed to address the problem collectively on a global scale with effective solutions that undo the damage done to the environment or the consequential injustices it has creates across the world. Arresting climate change can only be successfully addressed by the world community, and the United Nations (UN) has for several years tried to create that consensus. This September the UN will try again, hosting the Catalyzing Action Climate Summit 2014, at its headquarters in New York City. Representatives from hundreds of member states will be present, but this summit will be different because 1 million or more individuals marching in New York City – and millions more in streets around the world – will collectively demand climate justice.

The People's Climate March on September 21, 2014 will create the largest march for climate justice ever, and build a movement dedicated to environmental responsibility, and economic and social justice to last long after the march has ended. That is why the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), the Unitarian Universalist – United Nations Office (UU-UNO) and The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) have partnered with The People's Climate March, and that Standing on the Side of Love has made climate justice the focus of their Commit2Respond campaign.

In fact, already 14 Unitarian Universalist affiliated organizations or congregations have partnered with more than 1,000 other organizations for this march – and its not too late for you to join the march and the movement!

Can't make it to NYC for the march? No worries: use this interactive map to locate (or create) an affiliated event near you. There are already more than 195 events scheduled around the United States, 425 events in North America, 830 events on the American continent, and 2,150 events scheduled world-wide.
