Welcome to the Youth Leadership Resource Page. Building youth leadership skill and creating opportunities for youth involvement in leadership positions are integral parts of what the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries does. The following is a listing of programs, events, opportunities and resources for building and supporting youth leadership. Click the links to be redirected to websites or online documents detailing these offerings.

Luminary Leaders

A national network of youth, Luminary Leaders is both a recognition program celebrating youth leadership and a way to plug youth into national leadership opportunities and experiences. Youth can join at any point during the year.

Summer Seminary

A 5-day program for youth considering careers as religious professionals. Summer Seminary 2014 will take place in Chicago in early August.

Leadership Schools

Held across the country, leadership schools may be youth-only or may be multigenerational. Summer Leadership Schools are great opportunities to build skills.

General Assembly Youth Caucus and Youth Caucus Staff

Youth Caucus at General Assembly offers opportunity for youth to build community, learn together, and get inspired to lead at home. The Caucus page includes videos that highlight the youth experience at General Assembly. Additionally, the Youth Caucus Staff offers opportunities to take the lead in planning GA. Open positions are posted.

Youth Observer

Each year, youth groups across the country vote by mail-in ballot to elect the Youth Observer to the UUA Board of Trustees. Elections are held each Spring for the following academic year.

UU College of Social Justice Youth Programs

The UUCSJ offers a variety of programs from service trips to justice trainings for high-school students in various areas of the country.

When Youth Lead: A Guide to Intergenerational Social Justice Ministry

This toolkit book also offers 101 suggestions for youth-led projects.

Youth on Boards and Committees

This blog post opens the conversation about providing opportunities for youth to serve on congregational committees and how to make that happen.
