Youth Caucus Staff Selected!

You met Youth Caucus Deans Sara and Asha earlier this year when they shared a video inviting you to join them this June in Phoenix. Now that the rest of the Youth Caucus staff has been determined we are excited to introduce them to you!-Ed.

Meet your 2012 Youth Caucus Staff!

Youth Caucus Deans are responsible for directing Caucus programs, selecting and managing staff and shaping the Caucus experience. Sara Surface, First Unitarian Universalist Church of Richmond. This is Sara’s second year as Dean. Asha Arora, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix. Asha will also serve in 2013. FUN TIMES Managers are responsible for leading discussions of GA business, helping youth understand the upcoming votes, and providing opportunities for youth to connect to leaders in the Association. Luke Gayeski, Unitarian Society of New Haven. This is Luke’s second year as FUN TIMES Manager. Zac Cooper, DuPage Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Zac was selected this past fall and will also serve in 2013. Worship Coordinators plan the worship services for the Youth Caucus, collaborated with Young Adult Caucus for a joint service, and serve on the planning team for the Synergy Worship in Plenary Hall. Elissa McDavid, Saltwater Church. This is Elissa’s second year as Worship Coordinator Jaimie Dingus, Unitarian Universalist Church of the Peninsula. Jaimie will also serve in 2013. Unique to GA 2012, the Justice Liaison will serve create connections between the Youth Caucus and planners of service and witness events. Celeste Allen, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Phoenix. Celeste is the Youth Trustee on the Pacific Southwest District Board. Well-received networking sessions in 2011 led to the position of Connections Coordinator. The CC will structure small-group discussions at General Assembly for youth to share ideas, experiences, success stories and more. Erika Tai, First Parish of Arlington, Massachusetts. Erika is deeply involved in the social justice activities of her congregation. Our Chaplain Team of two youth and two adults work together to provide support and a listening ear for youth at GA. They also help keep our community healthy and welcoming to all. Leigh Friedman, East Shore Unitarian Church. Leigh served as a chaplain and member of the Right Relations Team in 2011. Owen Huelsbeck, Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Owen serves on the TUUC Addictions Ministry Committee, among other activities. Rev. Andrew Weber is the YRUU Advisor at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Ann Arbor. Andrew served on the chaplain team in 2011. Margaret Weis is the ministerial intern at First Parish of Watertown. Margaret is in her last year of seminary. The remaining adult staff members serve as Advisors and Sponsor Coordinators, supporting the youth staff, helping maintain safe youth space and working with youth sponsors at GA. Karen Eng, Church of the Larger Fellowship. Karen served on staff in 2010 and is a member of the Ministerial Fellowship Committee. Kate Landis is the ministerial intern at the UU Area Church at First Parish in Sherborn. A member of the UU Society of Cleveland, Kate is in her final year of seminary. Kathy Smith is the Director of Religious Education at Community Unitarian Universalist Church of Plano, Texas. Kathy served on Youth Caucus Staff in 2010 and 2011.
