This Sunday, December 4 at noon, please join in an interfaith vigil in solidarity with the nonviolent water protectors at Standing Rock outside North Parish in North Andover (190 Academy Road). All are welcome!
Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle, has called for an Interfaith Day of Prayer in solidarity with the nonviolent water protectors of Standing Rock on December 4. Some clergy and lay leaders are traveling to Standing Rock for the day, but for those of us unable to make the trip, we can be in solidarity through vigils and prayer circles closer to our homes. In response to this call, clergy from Andover and North Andover are organizing this local vigil.
In the words of Rev. Karen Van Fossan, a minister serving in Bismarck, ND, “As those who have visited know, the nonviolent water protector movement at Standing Rock is deeply rooted in prayer… The camps at Standing Rock are based on the conviction that prayer, especially collective prayers, can protect our living water.”
Let us be part of this important day! (Religious leaders are encouraged to wear stoles and/or clergy shirts.)
