Defying the Nazis UU Action Project at First Unitarian Church of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH
Interfaith Service about Islam
Rev. Sharon Dittmar and the members of the First Unitarian Church of Cincinnati invited Shakila Ahmad, the president of the board of the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, along with other members of the Center, to lead them in a Sunday service to build a richer understanding of Islam among the members of the church. The service came about through a larger partnership of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith communities in Cincinnati called the Interfaith Trialogue, which was originally formed to confront Islamophobia in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, and which re-formed this year to provide interfaith opposition to the recent sharp rise of Islamophobic rhetoric and hate crimes.
